How the Project Started

Navigating a city can become frustrating when a route includes bridges that drivers want or need to avoid. Most navigation apps focus on finding the fastest route, but they don’t always make it easy to avoid specific obstacles like bridges.

That became the starting point for Bruggo.

The goal was to explore this problem and design a clearer navigation experience that helps users find alternative routes while avoiding bridges and other unwanted parts of their journey.

Jobs To Be Done

Solution №1 - Lack of Reliable Route Options

The fastest route is automatically built around bridge disruptions, helping drivers avoid unnecessary delays. It clearly shows which bridges were avoided and allows them to choose an open bridge when it provides a better option. Navigation can also start immediately, even when the driver is already on the road.

Solution №2 - Lack of Route Flexibility

Users can start the suggested route immediately or choose a different bridge if they prefer to take a longer route. When a bridge is expected to reopen soon, the app highlights the option and updates the ETA. Detailed driver reports also help confirm that bridge traffic has been stopped, providing more confidence in the information.

Solution №3 - Disruptive Route Updates
